Launching a Website in Three Days: The OA Tutors Story

First, I received the discussion guide for the church resources webpage. I edited it and proceeded to install some necessary applications in preparation for the barbecue service. After that, I focused on finalising the code and preparing it for deployment. This process took a while, but I’m thrilled to announce that the website is now live.

Productivity on the Go

I focused on coding, continuing the progress from Monday. By then, I had set up the domain and created a "coming soon" page. Today, I worked on developing the landing page for OA Tutors, a one-page website designed to present the idea and allow for booking sessions. Excitingly, I secured my first client after sharing an advert on my status, resulting in two learners in a short span of time. I am very grateful for this opportunity and do not take it for granted.

How a Simple Idea Led to the Launch of OA Tutors

So, what is this big idea? Well, I have a friend in London who I visit occasionally, and our conversations often generate interesting ideas on how to thrive, even in this foreign land. He shared a story about one of his friends who ventured into a similar opportunity, leveraging his academic background, much like mine. It all began with identifying skills and talents, recognising the potential to make an impact, and asking, "How do you get started?" The answer lay in teaching people and sharing knowledge, which aligns perfectly with my values of knowledge sharing and helping others realise their potential.

Turning Ideas into Action

The day progressed smoothly after that. I did a bit of light reading and then moved on to my daily activities. I had several reference requests to handle, and I needed to edit some videos for my cycling vlog. The video was quite long, so I found a way to shorten it.

Reflection: How have my priorities changed in the last year?

I was prompted to write this reflection when I was prompted by the DAYONE App journal daily prompt. Download DAYONE journal today and start creating.

A Day of Relaxation and Reflection

Throughout the day, I was thinking about various aspects of the site and working on improvements with my friend and mentor, Joseph. I owe him a lot of gratitude for his help so far. Although it may not seem like relaxing to some, for me, spending time on my laptop is a way to chill out. My wife, however, doesn’t quite see it that way.

I Ditched My Car for a Bicycle: A Refreshing Return to Cycling

Before setting off, I prepared my bike and tested my recording devices. I was enthusiastic about the ride, and my wife was quite happy to see me back on the bike. Coincidentally, she mentioned she had been thinking about it the day before. It was a bit stressful and came with some pain, as it had been a while since I last cycled, but I felt the strain in my legs. Cycling requires endurance, and I was intentional about it because I noticed I was gaining weight. Beyond just shedding weight, I wanted to fit into my clothes without having to change my wardrobe.

Reflections: Navigating Life's Pathways

Navigating a Busy Day

Despite the long hours on the road, I had a productive day. Knowing that I would spend most of my working hours travelling, I brought my laptop with me. I managed to accomplish a lot by starting early. I completed two pages of work, made some changes, did some reading, and read my Bible. During my drive, I maximised my time by listening to music and podcasts. In the evening, I reviewed my tasks and squeezed in some work before the midweek Bible study service, which I had to set up for.
